Who we are
Jaime and Jen worked as a team for nearly eight years at Island Press. When the nonprofit was acquired, they joined forces to found PR & Partnerships.
Each brings distinct strengths in brand building and complementary subject‑matter expertise, with a shared focus on climate resilience and environmental stewardship.
Jaime Jennings
Books are some of our most powerful tools for changing the world. For twenty-five years, Jaime has helped authors translate their expertise into messages that resonate. First at Random House and then as the Associate Director of Publicity at Island Press, she navigated the intersection of media and mission, securing top-tier media coverage that brought critical issues such as public health, food scarcity, land use, natural history, and climate change to the forefront of public conversation.
Jaime’s journey through the publishing world has been a continuous education. Working on titles that offer solutions to our world’s most significant challenges has shaped her own worldview and fueled her commitment to advocacy. She has had the pleasure of working with a variety of talents and experts over the years, including fiction writers such as Luanne Rice and Harlan Coben, and nonfiction authors, E.O. Wilson, Sherri Goodman, Jan Gehl, Angie Schmitt, Matthew Algeo, Katherine Miller, Gabe Klein, Edward Struzik, Mike Lydon, Stephen Buchmann, and others. Whether she is building a media campaign or mentoring an author through their first live interview, she believes a well-delivered persuasive message can shape the future and impact people’s lives.
Community is at the heart of everything Jaime does—whether it's fostering neighborhood connections at HOA meetings or sharing a meal with family and neighbors. A lover of great books and even better food, she is always on the hunt for a new culinary adventure or the perfect homemade pasta dough.
Jen Hawse
Jen Hawse is the kind of strategist who sees both the forest and the leaves, knowing exactly how to turn a great idea into a story people can’t ignore. As the cofounder of PR & Partnerships, Jen collaborates with thought leaders, authors, and mission-driven organizations who are pushing for a more equitable, sustainable, and humane world.
Jen’s career began in retail, where direct customer communication led her to several managerial positions. Following college, she immersed herself in the environmental movement, working for a carbon offset nonprofit, a government contractor, as a farmer, at an online grocery store, and lastly with a nonprofit book publisher. This diverse career journey allowed her to listen, learn, and reflect on what matters most to protect our planet.
Today, Jen thrives where creativity meets purpose: developing messaging that feels true, forging partnerships that actually matter, creating strategies rooted in values, and crafting communication that invites people into something bigger than themselves. She launched PR & Partnerships with her cofounder, Jaime Jennings, to work with clients who care about impact as much as visibility—and who want to grow without losing sight of the communities they serve.
Beyond her professional work, Jen is highly involved in her neighborhood. She is on the board of her YIMBY neighborhood association and a proud member of the City of Rockville’s Environment Commission. She spends many Saturdays doing stream clean-ups, volunteering at the farmers market, and playing with her little kid, who is growing up way too fast. She always has a podcast playing in her ears and recommends Search Engine and Unexplainable.
If you need someone who is part strategist, part collaborator, and part steady co-pilot, then you need to work with Jen Hawse. She will keep you grounded and supported while bringing an energizing clarity to your work. Jen listens deeply, asks the questions others miss, and turns complex ideas into narratives that resonate with policymakers, the public, and the people who most need to hear them.
